Is there a traditional use for which color leader color to use for the head, foot, and any other places in the reel of film? I know red is for the foot or tail. How about blacks and greys too.

Can many colors still be found, like coral, etc.?

Green was a favorite of school districts film heads, with red on the tails. I have a little bit of school district green & red, and a large core of yellow leader.

Can a variety of leader colors still be found. I like coral. There's nothing like a new fine Sharpie and fresh leader to make my day. [set5_b/set5_b/hat.gif]

I've seen green, white, yellow and blue all used for "head" leaders by rental and public libraries. One local TV station used to use a color-code system, white head leaders for color films, blue heads for b/w. :ugeek:

This is for Dan, Military prints I have have white leaders with red tails. All of my color prints have, educational or theatrical, have red leaders and white tails. By the way the military prints I have are all from WW2 and are black and white. Don't know if that helps but that's what I have.
