Just purchased a CHINON 7000 for $25.00, shipping included, and need someone who has knowledge with this model. The cosmetic condition is very good, and the lamp works but the seller said he could not hear anything moving on the inside even when he turned the control FOWARD or REVERSE. The seller had no knowledge concerning projectors and did not know how to fully test it. It apparently is receiving power for the lamp to work. It has just shipped so it will probable be another week before I receive it. Anyone have an idea what I should check when it arrives?

If the motor is running and nothing else is happening then I would check the belt first

Hi Mike,

That would be my first guess but the seller said that he couldn't hear any sound coming from within the projector.

I have a Chinon but not a 7000 later today I will take the back off and have a look. Maybe just maybe the motor is froze or stuck. Just a guess. Mine is a super 8 with sound so maybe I will learn something.

Hey Mike,

I have a CHINON SP350 and it rewinds very slow and will not rewind a full film. Have any suggestions on how to correct this on the CHINON projector? I have done this with more than one ELMO ST1200 machine but have no experience with CHINON.

I have the SP350 also. For the rewind. There is a little -V- style belt that maybe slipping. Or maybe just a good cleaning and lubing the gears and such that drives it. Its right on the top left side the drives the rewind. An easy change. There is a little glass 3 amp fuse the could be blown is why there is not noise from the 7000 when turned on. Even with no belt the 350 motor runs.

Where did you get the rewind belt? I would like to buy one too.

I had some belts from a few old projectors I use to have. I pulled the belts before trashing them. Not sure which it came from but I only had one that size or you would have been welcomed to one.
