Picked up an ELMO ST800 for $45.00 today. It projects well and the sound and picture are good for what it is. It is cosmetically in good condition but the speed will slow slightly and then regain it's normal speed. If you push down or slightly pull up on the main board it slows a bit until pressure is released. What causes this and is there an easy fix?

Hi Roger, Try spraying the motor connector. Then try it out. It could be dirty? All so spray the speed switch. Let me know how you made out. Leon Norris.

Hi Leon. I pulled a couple of wire harnesses free from the board and sprayed them and the speed control with contact cleaner. After letting it sit for a few minuets I fired it back up and ran four 200' prints through. The speed is running correctly for now. It had a squeak in it which turned out to be the front sprocket. Pulling the sprocket and adding a bit of grease corrected the problem.

Correct running speed was short lived. It is having a speed surge where it is running faster than normal. Changing from 24fps to 18fps doesn't always affect the surge but does now and then.

Roger, It also could be the motor? Try and take the motor belt off and then try it ! To see if the motor does the same speed problems! If the motor acts up then most likely its the motor! Well let me know! Leon Norris.

I pulled the motor belt and the speed didn't change but still ran too fast. If you push down on the corner of the main board the speed will slow according to the pressure you apply. You can achieve the proper speed this way.

Roger, you might have to pull the board out to check it out! And put back! Then try it! Leon Norris

Leon, I messed around a little with the board. When I held down on some wires connected to a block that was plugged into the board, the speed was corrected. When I relieved the pressure it again began to run faster. I unplugged the block of wires, sprayed with contact cleaner and added grease to the pins. It is now running as it should. Hopefully this has fixed the problem but I'll let you know if things changes.
