Just received my first bottle of Filmguard and did a test run on one of my films. Is the idea to place a very thin coating on film and to avoid thick patches of lube on the surface. Mine has blotches on it which probable means that I used too much. I went back over it the next day with a dry rag and that seemed to leave a more even coating. It appears very easy to overuse this product.

Roger, do the blotches show on the projected image? If so, then the film was previously coated with something called "Photo Guard". Film Guard will not work on films treated with Photo Guard. You can remove the Film Guard quite easily with Film Renew. Just place the film on rewinds and hold a cloth moistened with Film Renew around the film.
I don't think Photo Guard can be removed. I think that Film Renew can be used on Photo Guard treated films.

Hi Dan,

The image had a very very light change in picture sharpness when faces where close up but very light. This was on the first run after applying and I have not viewed it again. My feeling is that the puddled areas were causing this to happen. I will view it again since I have ran it through a dry cloth and removed a little from it.

Roger fold an 8"x8" soft cotton cloth three times, then evenly spray Film Guard on the cloth four times. This should work fine. You can project the film immediately, but not sooner. If there were any base side lines, they should disappear and you should notice a translucent wet gate effect that is peasant to the eyes.

Dan,

The film that I treated did have some base side scratches but did vanish afterward. Very Nice
Thanks
