Welllll...more snow today (17" this week) so I decided to stay home and dig deep into the collection and I came up with THE GUNMAN FROM BODIE, a 1941 Monogram "B" western starring Buck Jones, Tim McCoy, Raymond Hatton and the ever beautiful Christine MacIntyre ( of 3 Stooges fame.) No idea who released this Super 8 "beauty" , but it was suffering from the soft focus pre-print material which looked like a tv print and the second reel of my print has modulating sound issues. Despite all that, I enjoyed the film immensely-- I am a sucker for westerns. It was bittersweet watching Buck Jones; the noble star had just months left on Earth until he rode off into the sunset forever at the horrible Coconut Grove nightclub fire in Boston.

James, nice line up of films. I really like the Droopy cartoons, especially the theatrical releases. They are a bit hard to find. Is that projector one of the Elmo ST-1200 models? Looks like a six foot dai-lite screen, with a nice speaker placement. Is that center speaker running off a center speaker out of an amp? Also, are those phonograph records or laser discs under the screen? Just wondering as I have a huge collection of both. |

It is indeed and ST1200HD. Haven't had it or any films out in 5 years. The screen is a 100" 16x9 DA-Lite set up for my video projector originally in my house in Portland, OR. The Super 8 filled the 4:3 with a velcrod mask portion from the dining room, the 16mm from the back of the kitchen 10' further back! It was just right for scope as well. In this room that's as much as it will fill with the lens I have. The bosslady says I can re-arrange the LR so I can put the projector in the dining room for a filled screen.... And since I'm canceling DirecTV and anything else extra, I'll be watching a lot of films for my evening entertainment. The speakers are running through my Yamaha receiver which conveniently has a "Mono movie" setting! Those are about 5% of my Phono record collection, some favorites brought in from storage. As soon as I get all my gear set up properly again, I'm finally going to screen Howard Hugh's Hell's Angles 5x400 I have mounted on 1200's. Cheers, |

I find the Elvis digests from Ken to be very repeatable and I enjoy them. Just screened GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS and the print looked great! I took these shots with my cell phone camera so the print is sharper... Attachment: elvis ggg 1.jpg [ 51.69 KiB | Viewed 133093 times ]

Bill, that has good color. I the Viacom feature, but the color isn't quite that good. I also have the Spanish language version: Chicas, Chicas y mas Chicas. |

Recently got 2 episodes of GILLIGAN'S ISLAND from the first season on 16mm. I have the first season on DVD and this print, although slightly edited looked much better than the DVD. Much better contrast. The first season was originally B&W and later colorized for reruns. Here are some shots from 'How To Be A Hero' Attachment: gilligans island 8.jpg [ 63.85 KiB | Viewed 133052 times ]

Thanks...I really love those Cinecolor prints. Out of 15 Iwerks cartoons that were issued by Castle in the process, I have 4 of them...Jack Frost, The Big Bad Wolf, The Pincushion Man and Don Quixote. All of them are in great condition with maybe a few burns in the opening titles but that's all. Always a thrill finding one! Bill |
