Hey Desmond, the response you left made more sense than you know in my experience. I worked part time at the local theater in the holiday seasons for about 2 years awhile back. The equiptment was installed very quickly and not very well. We were using Super Simplex 35mm machines with Strong lamphouses. I insisted that the lamphouse voltages were way to high for the small screen sizes we had and many of the zenon lamps had what looked like melted electrodes after only a few weeks. We used to replace lamps every couple weeks which became a real pain. After several years they seem to have corrected the problem but once I left there I took over the oldest theater in my town and we used 500W small zenon bulbs which I never replace in the 2 1/2 years I worked there.
Thanks for the info.

The Xenon lamp will last if its properly treated which obviously was not the case in the 1st theatre you worked in. There is also safety issues involved if Xenon lamps are being stressed
by working outside their tolerance. My 24 yr old EiKi 4000p 16mm projector still has its original 550w Xenon lamp that works as good as new after 400 hrs burning time. A close up inspection (wearing suitable protective equipment) shows the lamps electrodes have minimum
wear..

Desmond
