Someone I know has a B&H Filmosonic 1733 that needs to remove the belt. He can't figure out to get it off. I don't have the same projector in my presence. I don't acquire B&H so it doesn't come to mind what's involved. Does anyone know how so I can transfer the message? I'd appreciate anyone's time/help.

John

I know how. You have to remove the motor and about 7 wires connected to the motor. The belt comes off around the motor and then reinstalled in Reverse. Don't remove the fan just the motor. There are two brackets that hold the motor on. Remove those two brackets. Lift the motor up enough to slide the belt off

Dan,

Thanks for the reply.

Do the wires have plugs or they have solder?

John, is this a 16mm or super 8 mm?

John, I made a mistake. My instructions were for a 16 mm projector.

I can't find a service manual on it. I'm sure I'd get it, but he's not shipping it to me from Kansas and back.

Ask him to send you some photos. We can upload them on to the forum. Someone will figure it out.

He's sent two. They're clear but you can't see the lower area on how to remove it. I'll try uploading them.

Thanks

Here are the photos. It looks like the belt comes off the two from pulleys easy enough. The one in the rear behind the shutter wheel may have a very narrow opening behind it where you can force the belt through.

Those nylon gears could use some white lithium grease along with the worm drive gear.
