A fellow that I attend church with just purchased a CHINON 9000 and wanted me to clean the film gate, guides, rollers and sound head. All is done but the sound head. I know there must be a trick to getting it opened so it can be cleaned. Would appreciate help with this. |

After a closer examination it appears that the head is not opening but staying in the close position continually keeping contact with the film. |

Hi Roger, what you need to do is . check the control knob! When you turn it to run position the lever should move down. It could be jammed? It might be spring loaded ! It sounds easy ! Come on Roger you are supposed to be a head technician ? I think your slipping? Let me know! Leon Norris. |

It does go down when placed in run position a little but not enough to clean the head. |

The sound seems fine. It does close on forward and is open on Thread, Reverse and Rewind. I can't remember what brand projector it was but I had one a good while back that had something that you had to do to drop it down enough to access it for cleaning. |
