As promised, here are the photos for the 2012 Oliver Hardy Festival held in Harlem, Georgia, on October 5th and 6th.
For the last four years, I have volunteered to go out and show Laurel & Hardy films in the museum theater, Babe's Bijou.
On the night of Friday, October 5th, a dinner is held for the local tent of the Sons of the Desert. This tent is the Berth Marks Tent Oasis #238. After the dinner and meeting for the Sons of the Desert, a feature film is presented for the viewing
pleasure of the members. This year I chose Pack Up Your Troubles on 16MM. This years festival was dedicated to the comedy lookalike duo Dennis Moriarty and Dale Walter, Stan and Ollie. This was their nineteenth year with the festival serving as Grand Marshals for the parade and all festivities. The duo were even given a key to the city, but Stanley swallowed it
by accident. On the day of the parade and festival(Saturday, October 6th), I project a two reeler every thirty minutes
between the hours of 11AM and 4PM.

By golly, I sure did! [set5_b/set5_b/smash.gif] There were tons of rug rats there too and they also enjoyed the festivities. One young lad about 9 years old approached me after a film and ask if I was going to show the one where Ollie was in the hospital with a broken leg. A real knowledgeable one he was.
